Bhopal, Sep 1 (SocialNews.XYZ) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Tuesday transferred more than Rs 304 crore to the bank accounts of over 1.21 lakh meritorious Class 12 students under the 'Pratibhashali Vidyarthi Protsahan Yojana' for purchasing laptops.
Under the scheme, students who secured 75 per cent or more marks in Class 12 in their first attempt are eligible for financial assistance of Rs 25,000 each.
The amount was transferred during a programme held at the Kushabhau Thakre International Convention Centre in Bhopal. Yadav also interacted with students and symbolically distributed laptops to 10 beneficiaries. Several students told him that they had cleared competitive examinations, including NEET and JEE Main, along with their Class 12 examinations.
Addressing the students, Yadav said success should not make them lose humility and that failures should be treated as an opportunity to learn. "Success should never be allowed to dominate us. If failure comes in life, we should not take it to heart. We should learn from our mistakes and maintain the resolve to move forward," he said.
The Chief Minister said the state government was committed to supporting students through various educational schemes and providing them with resources needed for their studies. "Knowledge is a companion for life, while skills bring efficiency to life. Both will always prove helpful in moving forward," Yadav said. He said the government was providing students with textbooks, uniforms, bicycles, laptops and scooters.
Yadav also said Madhya Pradesh currently has 33 medical colleges, including government and private institutions, with more than 6,500 MBBS seats. The government has set a target of increasing the number of medical colleges to 55 and undergraduate medical seats to 10,000 by 2028.
School Education Minister Uday Pratap Singh said more than 6.5 lakh students had so far received Rs 1,620 crore under the laptop scheme. He said over 1.21 lakh students were eligible for assistance this year based on their Class 12 performance.
Singh also said enrolment in government schools had increased over the past three years and claimed that the dropout rate had reached zero. He said around 70,000-72,000 guest teachers were currently working in government schools and the state government was committed to filling around 18,000 vacant teacher posts.
